When Your evolving Faith Needs an Updated Approach to the Scriptures
Many of us have had our faith tainted by weaponized usage of scripture, rigid fundamentalist readings, and flat out bizarre literal and legalistic interpretations of the Bible.
But it doesn’t have to be like that. Though those narrow and soul-crushing approaches to the Bible are often embraced by some loud segments of the church, they’re not the only way.
My approach to the Bible starts with a different set of assumptions and is ever expanding and evolving as my faith does the same.
I’d love to help you learn more about engaging with the Bible in a way that honors the grace and inclusive loving-kindness of Christ.

reading The Bible isn't about finding answers or being right
The Bible is an inspired and imperfectly perfect chronicle of people trying to work out their own theology as they capture significant spiritual moments. Its an important source for holy wisdom, learning, and so much more. But to let the Bible teach us all that it can, we have to approach it on its own terms.
When we try to squish the Bible into the categories and columns that we sometimes find simplest to grab onto, we miss so much of its complexity, wisdom, and beauty. Study with me, and together we can respond to the mystery of God that is found within the Bible’s pages.

A Little About Marina

TL;DR version: Passionate Bible nerd (in a cool way), regular human person with degrees in literature & psychology, friend to my loving husband, frequently-laughing and frequently-humbled mom to 3 school-age kids. Always earnest. Prone to expressive gesticulation. Still says “dude.”
